Thank you for reading the Illinois Library Association blog, the ILA Connecter! The goal of the ILA Connecter is to be a collaborative effort in connecting, communicating and engaging across Illinois libraries. We hope that this blog will serve as a medium to not only offer resources and support, but also to foster professional relationships and a sense of community among Illinois library colleagues.
Posts will cover such topics as conferences and events, historical essays pertaining to the library world, book or other material challenges, programming ideas, information for job seekers, local author interviews, local library staff or trustee interviews, celebration days or weeks, library instruction, social media, mentorship, marketing, networking, MLIS courses/programs, book reviews, privacy & censorship, work/life balance, and more.
The Illinois library community is large and diverse, and this blog is meant to reflect that. ILA hopes to provide relatable and useful content, whether you’re the sole librarian in a rural community library, staff at a large suburban library, a university archivist, or in any of the other dozens of professions that keep Illinois libraries afloat.
As always, please feel free to contact ILA if you have any questions or concerns, or if you’d like to be involved in contributing to the ILA Connecter.
